What is the difference between tile adhesive and tile back adhesive ?

Glue paving, as the name suggests, is to use “glue” to lay tiles. The materials used are mainly tile glue and tile back glue. Therefore, compared with the traditional cement mortar paving method, there must be a lot of differences.

Tile adhesive

Tile adhesive is a material used to paste tiles, which is divided into ordinary, enhanced and super strong types. Although tile adhesive is called “glue”. But it is not “glue”. It is similar to our cement, both are powdered. When using, you need to add a certain amount of water to mix. The prepared tile adhesive is in a paste state.

When laying tiles, first scrape the paste tile adhesive on the back of the tile. Then scrape a layer on the wall and the floor. Then press the tile directly to the wall and the floor to paste. After the tile adhesive dries. The laying of the tile is completed. So it can replace the traditional cement mortar.

Tile back adhesive

Tile back adhesive is often in buckets. It is very similar to “glue” and is milky. No water is needed to mix, it can be used immediately. When using tile back adhesive, you need to use a brush to evenly apply the tile back on the back of the tile. After the tile back adhesive dries, we use the traditional cement mortar laying method. Just lay the tile on the wall and the floor.

So, strictly speaking, tile adhesive is not a bonding material. It is a treatment agent and cannot replace cement mortar. It still needs to be used with cement mortar.

Tile adhesive only adds a “transition layer” between cement mortar and tiles. It is used to strengthen the adhesion between cement mortar and tiles. It makes the cement mortar and tiles bond more firmly.
