Traditional cement mortar can be used to lay tiles. So why do we need tile adhesive or tile back adhesive?


The reason is actually very simple: we know that many people now like to “put floor tiles on the wall”. Many tiles have a relatively low water absorption rate, large size specifications, and heavy weight.
If traditional cement mortar is used for laying, what will happen after the tiles are laid on the wall?
Tiles do not absorb water, and after the cement mortar dries, many pores are left. Coupled with the influence of its own gravity, the wall tiles are likely to be hollow and fall off. Therefore, for floor tiles on the wall, it is not possible to use traditional cement mortar to lay.
Tile adhesive contains a large number of additives to enhance the bonding force. Therefore, there is no need to consider the problems of low water absorption and heavy weight of tiles.
In addition, compared with traditional cement mortar, tile adhesive also has certain advantages in waterproofing, impermeability, frost resistance, and high temperature resistance. It is thinner than cement mortar and saves more space.
As for tile back adhesive, it plays a “transition” role between the back of the tile and the cement mortar. Tiles do not need to directly contact cement mortar. Therefore, it can also avoid the problems of hollowing and falling of wall tiles caused by traditional cement mortar paving.
