Comparison of laying thickness

Cement mortar has poor water retention and a relatively high water absorption rate. Therefore, the laying thickness of cement mortar is usually around 20mm.
Tile adhesive has good water retention and strong adhesion. Using a thin-paste process, the thickness is about 8mm. Therefore, using tile adhesive saves more space

Comparison of bonding effect

Wall tiles laid with cement mortar are prone to uneven pasting and have pores on the surface. It is very likely to cause the tiles to be loosely pasted, hollow, and fall off.
Tile adhesive is evenly distributed, has a high slurry rate, and is not prone to hollowing, falling off, and other phenomena. ,

Transportation and storage

Tile adhesive: It can be transported once and stored conveniently indoors.
Cement mortar: Cement and sand need to be used alternately, so they need to be transported separately. Sand is generally stored outdoors in bulk and needs to be sieved. Therefore, special attention should be paid to waterproofing and windproofing, and the labor time cost is greatly increased.

Comparison of application scope

Cement mortar tiles need to be soaked in water before use. For example, vitrified tiles have low water absorption, and cement mortar is used. Even after soaking, the paving effect is still not ideal.
Compared with cement mortar, tile adhesive has stronger bonding strength, better water retention, and a wider range of applications. Polished tiles, antique tiles, mosaic tiles, especially vitrified tiles with low water absorption, require tile adhesive with strong bonding strength for paving.
