In the use of mortar, the consistency and anti-sag performance of mortar are very important indicators. Mortar must be easy to apply while having the proper consistency and not sag when thick mortar is applied. Tile adhesives need the same properties so that they can help support heavy bricks perpendicular to the wall.
Cellulose ether products have obvious effects on the consistency and anti-sag performance of mortar. By adjusting the viscosity and particle size of cellulose ether, suitable anti-skid performance and optimal consistency can be achieved. Mortar consistency increases with viscosity and admixture dosage. The finer the particle size, the faster the initial thickening rate of the mortar.
Conformance Test Method
The international standard EN 1015-3 Test methods for fresh mortar – Part 3(with revision A1:2004) specifies the consistency test method using the platform method; while EN 1308 defines the test method for measuring the slip resistance of tile adhesives.
In order to improve the performance of cellulose ether on mortar, Landcel has developed a variety of modified cellulose ether products. The influence factors of modified cellulose ether products on mortar are as follows:
A. Improve skid resistance;
B. Improve construction performance;
C. Increased water demand;
D. Increase the thickening effect;
E. Reduce the viscosity of the scraper;
F. Increase the output of mortar;
G. Extend operating time.
The thickening effect of the modified cellulose ether product is often higher than the thickening effect of the cellulose ether product itself.
